Annis Grace Carter

Annis 'Grace' Carter, 86, of Gallipolis, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at Holzer Senior Care Center. She was born June 11, 1921 in Gallia County, daughter of the late Luther and Margaret Spires Glassburn. She was married to Ellis L. Carter on February 9, 1946 in Gallipolis, Ohio. He preceded her in death on February 15, 1995. Grace was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed homemaking and gardening. She was a member of Elizabeth Chapel for many years. Surviving are two children, Kathryn Donald Cox and Lloyd 'Joe' Carter, both of Gallipolis; two grandchildren, SSG Daniel L. Carmen Cox of Olympia, Washington and David L. Crystal Cox of Bidwell; a sister-in-law, Naomi Glassburn of Bidwell; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Ellis, Grace was preceded in death by sisters, Iva Blanche Glassburn, Melissa Hall, Isanell Lane, Elsie Hunnel, and Daisy Glassburn; brothers, Wilson 'Bill' Glassburn, Finley Glassburn, and John Kenneth Glassburn. Services will be 1 p.m., Saturday, May 17, 2008 at the Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Alfred Holley officiating. Burial will follow in Mina Chapel Cemetery.
