Arthur I. Duty, 81, of Patriot, Ohio passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2013 at the Holzer Medical Center. He was born on August 7, 1932 in Ragland, WV, son of the late John C. and Nola Curry Duty. Arthur was a retired SFC US Army serving both in the Korean War and Vietnam War. He was also a farmer and retired construction worker. He was a member of the Rio Grande Church of Christ. He was married to Nancy Hall Duty and she preceded him in death in 2010. Surviving are his children, Patricia (Joe) Taylor of Tennessee, George L. Duty, Arthur D. "Doug" (LaNora) Duty, both of Gallipolis, Kathy (Daniel J.) Preston of Patriot, Gerry (Randy Gilman, Charles Dempsey) Gilman of Williamson, WV, Nola "Snookie" (Jim) Carey of Hampton, VA, Lora M. Duty of Patriot; 19 Grandchildren;19 Great Grandchildren; and one brother, Sheldon (Mary Ann) Duty of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Nancy, a grandson Arthur Douglas Duty, Jr. and by two great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11 am, Thursday, October 31, 2010 at the Rio Grande Church of Christ with Tim Gainer officiating. Burial will follow in Duty Family Cemetery on Houck Road. Friends may call at Willis Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6-8 pm.
