Our world became a little darker on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 when Barbara Lynn Abels peacefully passed away at her home in Gallipolis, Ohio with her friends Dee and Christina, who loved her very much, by her side.
Barb was born on November 30, 1957 in Augusta, Georgia; she was the daughter of the late Gene and Jean Allyn Abels. In addition to her parents, Barb was preceded in death by a brother, Brad Abels and her sidekick and best friend, Paka.
She was a vibrant soul who loved to have fun and make new friends. Barb had many occupations during her life- from a nurse, to a psychologist, to a talented artist; there wasn't anything she couldn't do once she set her mind to it. Barb loved to travel, spend time outdoors with nature, and go to Rock shows. She always supported local musicians and artists. If you had the pleasure of knowing Barb, you were a very lucky person. She was one of a kind and truly one of the most amazing friends to have in your life. Barb made a huge impact on everyone she met, and the world will definitely not be the same without her. Until we meet again, Auntie Barb, Aloha.
Barb is survived by sister, Beth Abels of Arcata, California; nephew, Brad (Kay) Cline of Gallipolis; great nieces and nephew whom she adored, Sophia, Evelyn, and Rylan Cline; and friends, Dedidre McCullough and Christina Bolda.
A Celebration of Barb’s Life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at her residence.
