Belva Catherine Miller

Belva Catherine Miller, 101, of Patriot, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 3, 2008 at the Holzer Medical Center Emergency Room. She was born January 23, 1907 in Ashe County, North Carolina, daughter of the late Calvin C. and Elizabeth Miller Phillips. Belva was married to John Mart Miller and he preceded her in death in 1988. She was a homemaker and member of McDaniels Cross Roads Church. Belva enjoyed crocheting, cooking, flowers and gardening and also enjoyed living in the country. Her family was the focal point of her life. She will be greatly missed by her family and loved ones. She was a beloved and devoted mother to her children. Surviving are her daughters, Edith Jarvis of South Point, Aileen Levitre of Patriot, Teresa Philip Doughman of Wilmington, NC and a granddaughter raised in the home, Carol Miller of Waterloo; a son, Wade Jane Miller of Patriot; a daughter-in-law, Pat Miller of Patriot; 18 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; 20 great great grandchildren; and one brother, Delbert Eula Phillips of Lexington, NC. Preceding her in death in addition to her parents and her husband, John Mart Miller, are one daughter, Darlene Grady, one son, Harold D. Miller; two grandchildren, Michelle Miller and James Montgomery, Jr., two great grandchildren, two sisters, Alma Mash and Lola Stanley, and three brothers, Halfred, Archie and Vernon Phillips. Services will be 1 p.m., Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at McDaniels Cross Roads Church with Rev. David Henson officiating. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Flag Springs Cemetery. Friends may call at the Willis Funeral Home in Gallipolis on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 from 6-8 p.m. Pallbearers will be Randy Fliehman, Derrick Carpenter, Wade Miller, Jr., Christopher Criswell, Heath Fliehman, Norman Miller and Donnie Grady.
