Bess Canterbury, 78, of Gallipolis, passed away on Monday, March 6, 2017 at her residence. She was born March 23, 1938 in Delbarton, WV , daughter of the late Charlie and Matilda Farley Perry. Bess was married to Mose Canterbury and he preceded her in death in 2009. She was a retired teacher from Gallipolis City Schools and ABLE Program at Buckeye Hills. Bess was a member of Elizabeth Chapel, Eastern Star and White Shrine. Surviving are her daughters, Angelia Denise Canterbury of Gallipolis and Dianna Lynn Canterbury of Baltimore, MD; four grandsons, Andrew Bryant (Jamie) Canterbury of Jackson, Levi David Canterbury of Gallipolis, Zachary (Chris) Canterbury Paisley of Scottsdale, AZ and Jonah Canterbury Paisley of Baltimore, MD; a great granddaughter, Rory Lee Canterbury Paisley; and a brother, John Charles (Debbie) Perry of Louisa, KY. In addition to her parents and husband, Mose Canterbury, Bess was preceded in death by infant twin sons, M. Dana and R. Darrell Canterbury, a son, David Carl Canterbury, a granddaughter, Cassandra Lynn Canterbury, two brothers, Vern Perry and Winnis Perry, and a sister, Wylodean Perry. Services will be 7:30 p.m., Thursday, March 9, 2017 at the Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Alfred Holley officiating. Friends may call from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 10, 2017 at Mound Hill Cemetery.
