Carol Ann Shafer

Carol Ann Shafer, 74, of Gallipolis, Ohio passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2022 at Overbrook Center in Middleport, Ohio.

Born on September 22, 1947 in Gallipolis, Ohio, Carol was the daughter of the late Asa and Grace Martin Johnson.  Carol married Norman H. Shafer, Sr., who preceded her in death on January 14, 2007.  She retired from Ohio Valley Publishing as a motor route carrier.  Carol was a Hannan Trace High School graduate; she enjoyed gardening flowers, reading, and word search puzzles.

Carol is survived by her daughter, Sandra Saunders of Gallipolis; sons, Norman (Marilyn) Shafer, Jr. of Gallipolis and Ronnie Shafer of Cheshire, Ohio; grandchildren, Christallynn “Crissy” (Evan) Shafer Wilbur, Melissa Long, Joseph “Joey” (Hannah) Saunders, Ashlee Saunders (Larry) Barcus, Norman Shafer III (Mallory Alderigi), Cheyenne Shafer (Deven) Kinnison, and Ronnie Shafer II; great grandchildren, Alexzandria Wilbur, Evan Wilbur Jr., Owen Hawley, Brancyn Shafer, Nevaeh Kinnison, Eli Kinnison, Olivia Saunders, Joseph Saunders, Gracelyn Saunders, Ellie Barcus, Levi Barcus, Kylinn Shafer, Hudson Roach, Maverick Still, and Stella Alderigi; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Carol was preceded in death by her daughter, Connie Shafer Condee; granddaughter, Katelynn Nicole Shafer; sisters and brothers-in-law, Garnet (Dave) Saxon, Betty (James) Hiles, and Doris Wisecarver; brother, Clifford Johnson; son-in-law, Joseph Saunders; and step granddaughter, Joann Saunders.

The funeral service for Carol will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Willis Funeral Home with Reverend Truman Johnson officiating.  Burial will follow in Ridgelawn Cemetery.  Friends may call from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, August 19, 2022 at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Norman Shafer, Jr., Ronnie Shafer, Norman Shafer III, Ronnie Shafer II, Evan Wilbur, Evan Wilbur, Jr., Joseph "Joey" Saunders, and Larry Barcus.
