Charles Edward Long, Jr., 81, of Gallipolis, Ohio passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Abbyshire Place. Charles was born on February 3, 1943 in Gallipolis, Ohio, son of the late Charles Edward Long, Sr. and Ethel Louise Watts Long. Charles had been a self-employed painter, had worked at Robbins and Myers, and was an insurance salesman. He was an Air Force Veteran, serving during the Vietnam Era, and was a graduate of Gallia Academy High School. Charles is survived by two sons, Sean Long of Gallipolis and Charles Scott Long of Tennessee; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; three brothers, David K. Long, Al T. Long, and Mike (Brandy) Long all of Gallipolis; and one sister, Carmel Long of Vinton, Ohio. He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Long and three sisters, Betty Long, Nancy Henry, and Emma Polsley. A Graveside Service will be held for Charles at noon on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at Gravel Hill Cemetery with Rev. Marlin Griffin officiating. Military honors will be given at the graveside by the Gallia County Funeral Detail.
