Chester D. Crews, 77, of Crown City, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 30, 2008 at the Holzer Medical Center. He was born September 17, 1930 in Milton, West Virginia, son of the late Basil Crews and Laura Lilly Crews, who survives him. Chester was married to Alice Crews and she survives him also. He was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran. He was an electrician, a 50 year member of Patriot Masonic Lodge #496 and a member of Mina Chapel Church where he served as Deacon. Surviving are his wife, Alice Crews of Crown City; his three children, Cindy Jeff Brown of Salisbury, MD, Cathy Rick Jackson of Gallipolis and Randy Chrissy Crews of Patriot; his mother, Laura Crews of Thurman; four stepchildren, Benny Debbie Clary of Bluefield, WV, Rhonda Jim Merrick, Tina Clary and Tim Amber Clary, all of Crown City; 21 Grandchildren; 2 Great Grandchildren; two sisters and a brother, Edie Jim Brewer of Springfield, Ohio, Pete Maude Crews and Wanda Bob Terry, both of Thurman; a sister-in-law, Mary Crews of Patriot; and a special friend, Jim Harmon of Gallipolis. He was preceded in death by his father, Basil Crews, his first wife Carolyn Crews in 1986, a brother Bobby Crews and a sister in infancy. Services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 2, 2008 at the Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Ralph Workman officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgelawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, June 1, 2008 from 6-8:30 p.m. There will be full military services at the graveside by volunteers of area veteran's lodges. The grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
