Clarence M. Mooney, Sr.

Clarence M. Mooney, Sr., 79, of Gallipolis, passed away on Monday, March 26, 2007 at his residence. He was born on November 17, 1928 in Gallia County, Ohio, son of the late Lawrence M and Martha F. Saul Mooney. He married Phyllis Long on October 10, 1986 and she survives him. He was a retired heavy equipment operator. Clarence was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church and he attended Northup Missionary Baptist Church. Surviving is his wife, Phyllis Mooney of Gallipolis; three sons, John T. Joyce Mooney of Waycross, Georgia, Mark Beverly Mooney and Marlin Beth Mooney, both of Gallipolis; six grandchildren, Amanda Rainey, Sarah Mooney, Jessica Ryan Roovaart, Jenny David Mooney, Matthew Mooney, Meghan Trevor Shafer; one great granddaughter, Taylor Mathie; a sister, Luella Lee Holcomb of Gallipolis; four stepchildren, Diana Al Armstrong, Clifford Nancy Shelton, Jr., Michael Linda Shelton, and Teresa Ken Thompson, all of Tennessee; and former wife, Earnestine Mooney of Gallipolis. Preceding him in death in addition to his parents are two sisters, Anna Ross and Audrey Watson. Services will be 1 p.m., Thursday, March 29, 2007 at the Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Chapman officiating. Burial will follow in Swan Creek Cemetery.
