Daniel Ray Martyn

Daniel "Danny" Ray Martyn, 55, of Gallipolis, Ohio, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 4, 2024.  Danny was born on May 30, 1968 in Gallipolis, Ohio, son of the late Kenneth Martyn and Doris Glover Martyn.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Brittany Martyn; two sisters, Vanessa Halley and Marcella Martyn; two brothers, William Keith Martyn and Dennis Martyn; and grandparents, Nora and Samuel Glover and Albert and Ruth Martyn.

Danny dearly loved Jesus Christ and his family; he supported his children in all their accomplishments.  He loved going on vacations with family.  Danny grew up attending the Church of Christ in Christian Union and was a trustee of the church.  He greatly loved his church family and had a servant's heart. He was always willing to give a helping hand.  Whatever Danny did, he did with his whole heart.  Danny worked for many years for Amherst Madison Coal and Buckeye Hills Career Center.  Danny has given to others by being an organ and tissue donor.

Danny was a graduate of Gallia Academy High School Class of 1987.  He was always an enthusiastic fan of Gallia Academy football and Ohio State Buckeyes.  He loved sports and was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves.

He is survived by his wife and the love of his life, Karissa Martyn; daughter, Grace Martyn and son, Daniel Keith Martyn; four sisters, Lynn Stapleton, Janette (Mike) Beckley, Yvette Nibert, and Summer Martyn; one brother, Jason Martyn; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Kandy and John Nuce; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Johnny and Diana Nuce, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles who will miss him dearly.

A funeral service celebrating his life will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at the Church of Christ in Christian Union, 2173 Eastern Avenue Gallipolis, Ohio, with Pastor Ben Polley officiating.
