David L. Blake, 61, of Gallipolis, died Friday, July 9, 2010 at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born May 17, 1949 in Wheeling, WV. The son of the late Hubert and Mary Louise Hoffman Blake. David was married to Anne Weigand Blake and she survives. David was a Maintenance Superintendent for A.E.P. retiring after 30 years of service, also retiring from Hopedale Mines in Cadiz, Ohio. He was the past president of the Mining Electro-Mechanical Maintenance Association and a member of the St. Louis Catholic Church. Surviving are his wife Anne Blake of Gallipolis, children David L. Blake Jr. of North Andover, MA, Tammy Kent Gorby of Florence KY, Adam and Mollie Blake both of Gallipolis; three grandchildren Sarah and Ian Gorby, Francesca Blake; a sister Diane Gary Wilson of Wellsburg, WV. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and In-laws. David was preceded in death by his Parents Hubert and Mary Louise Blake. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am Monday, July 12, 2010, at the St. Louis Catholic Church with Msgr. William Myers officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Louis Catholic Church Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday, July 11, 2010 from 6 until 8 pm at Willis Funeral Home with a rosary service at 8:00 pm In lieu of flowers the family request donation be made to the Holzer Hospice at 100 Jackson Pike, Gallipolis, Oh.
