David D. Crabtree, 84, of Gallipolis, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, West Virginia.
Born on October 14, 1939 in Wellsburg, West Virginia, David was the son of the late Gerald M. and Laura B. Johnson Crabtree. David married Carol S. Crabtree, who survives him in Gallipolis. He graduated from Wellsburg High School Class of 1957 and WV Tech, earning a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He worked as a Performance Engineer and retired from the AEP Gavin Power Plant. David was a member of First Baptist Church and Gavin Retired Employees Club; he was involved with the Gallipolis Railroad Museum.
David is survived by his wife, Carol Crabtree of Gallipolis; son, David (Linda) Crabtree, Jr. of Port Elgin, Ontario, Canada; daughters, Julie (Daniel) Bays of Gallipolis and Jodi (Ralph) Taylor of Vinton, Ohio; grandchildren, SPC Christopher (Michelle) Crabtree of Mentor, Ohio, Kathryn Crabtree of London, UK, Kyle (Alex) Bays of Gallipolis, Joey Ritter-Taylor of Vinton, Jenna Bays of Gallipolis, and Derek Taylor of Gallipolis; great grandsons, Blake Ritter and Hayden Bays expected in August; brother, Gerald (Isabella Graef) Crabtree of Woodside, California; and niece, Amy Blesser of Texas.
The funeral service for David will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June, 24, 2024 at First Baptist Church with Pastor Aaron Young officiating. Burial will follow in Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. Family and friends may call prior to the service Monday from 12:00-1:00 p.m. at the church.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Bays, Kyle Bays, Ralph Taylor, Joey Ritter-Taylor, David Crabtree, Jr., and Chris Crabtree.
