Donald Bierie Wothe "graduated" to Heaven on March 12, 2014 from ALS. He was born May 9, 1935 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He graduated from Wauwatosa HS in June, 1953. He trusted in the Lord as his personal Saviour at church camp at the age of 18 and sought God's leading for his life. God led Don to Rio Grande College, Ohio where he met Margaret E. Wickline. They were married April 8, 1955. He graduated in May, 1957 with a Bachelor of Science degree with a focus in Social Studies. Don was a teacher and coach in the Bellefontaine, Ohio City Schools. He received a Master's degree in Guidance and Counseling at the University of Wyoming in May, 1964. He was the Director of Guidance and Counseling at Jackson, Ohio HS from 1964-65. He continued his education through summer fellowship programs at a number of schools. He was a guidance counselor at Princeton HS in Cincinnati, Ohio from 1965 until his retirement in 1993. In addition, Don was an instructor of Psychology at Temple Baptist College in Cincinnati, Ohio from 1972-74. From 1981-93, he was the co-leader of the PHS Fellowship of Christian Educators. His final employment was as an independent contractor delivering new cars for dealerships. He was a very active member at Tri-County Baptist Church serving the Lord as Sunday School teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, youth leader, deacon, choir member and snowplow operator. Don led by example and provided his family with a strong foundation for Godly living and Biblical thinking. He loved the outdoors, never met a stranger, and he loved being busy. He enjoyed a rustic cabin on 93 acres in southeastern Ohio, any and all physical activities, numerous mission trips, working on his vehicles and family vacations. Don was diagnosed with ALS in December, 2010. He and Margaret sold their home of 43 years in Cincinnati, Ohio and moved to Littleton, Colorado to be near their daughter, Debbie, and her family for a supportive role with Don's health needs. He was blessed with an amazing Denver ALS support team. His greatest supporter and caregiver was his wife, Margaret. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Hannah Wothe; sister-in-law Gertrud Wothe; brother-in-law Wesley Donovan Wickline. He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Wothe; three children and spouses: Don and Pam Wothe of Rio Grande, OH, Dana and Debra Rose Wothe of Brownstown, MI, and Debbie and Wes Curtis of Littleton, CO; 13 grandchildren: Amanda (Bray) Shamblin, Aaron (Brittany) Wothe, Adrian Wothe, Alexis Wothe; Michael Wothe, David (Heather) Wothe, Elizabeth Wothe; Rebecca Curtis, Katelyn Curtis and Allison Curtis; 5 great-grandchildren: Emma, Kennedy and Lincoln Shamblin; Savannah and Abigail Wothe; brother John Wothe; sister-in-law Jacquelyn Wickline. Services will be 11:30 a.m., Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Calvary Baptist Church, Rio Grande, Ohio with Don's longtime pastor, Dr. Lew Davis (Brother Lew). Burial will follow in Calvary Baptist Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. prior to the service. Pallbearers will be John Wothe, Wesley Curtis, Michael Wothe, Bray Shamblin, David Wothe, and Aaron Wothe.
