Donnie H. Day

Donnie H. Day, 73, of Crown City, passed away on Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at the Scenic Hills Nursing Center. He was born on April 26, 1933 in Gallia County, Ohio to the late Oakley and Maude Walters Day. He married Vivian Loretta Simms on July 8, 1953 and she survives him. Donnie was a farmer and laborer. He enjoyed watching westerns, reading, and visiting with family and friends. Surviving are his wife, Vivian Day of Crown City; five children, Gladys “Sue” John Sheets Johnson of Patriot, Debra Chip Kirby of Vinton, Valerie Day of Rio Grande, Gregory Day of Gallipolis, Angie Dan Nelson of Gallipolis; twelve grandchildren, Keith Day, Lori Kemper, Roberta Johnson, Brandon Kirby, Kimberly Cochrane, Curstin Ramey, Gabriel Peck, Caitlyn Nelson, Christopher Day, Eric Day, Jessica Nelson, Brittany Nelson; eight great grandchildren; one brother, Bud Louise Day of Columbus; two sisters, Dorothy Baird of Gallipolis and Katie Haught of Marion. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Ronnie Day in 1962, one grandchild, Shawn Maynard, and brothers and sisters, Opal Drossis, Gene Day, Lee Sheets, Carl Day, Mary Day, Christina Day, and Sarah Layne Services will be 1 p.m, Saturday, April 21, 2007 at the Willis Funeral Home with Rev. Denny King officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, April 20, 2007 from 6-8 p.m. Pallbearers will be Christopher Day, Keith Day, Eric Day, Steve McCormick, Dan Nelson, and James Cochrane. Honorary pallbearers will be Chip Kirby and John Sheets. A special thank you to caregiver, P.A. Montgomery who gave special loving care to Donnie.
