Edward Simpkins, 84, of the Teens Run Community, passed away on Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at his residence. He was born January 25, 1923 in Lawrence County, Ohio to the late Lewis and Edith Fife Simpkins. Edward was preceded in death by two wives, Juanita Simpkins and Irene Hively Simpkins on July 3, 2000. He was retired from the Columbus City Schools Maintenance Department. He was also a member of Providence Missionary Baptist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Linda Jerry Gould of Columbus and Zenia Glen Stringfellow of Oklahoma; three stepchildren, David Janet Hively of Gallipolis, Patricia Call and Barbara Brown, both of Crown City; several grandchildren and several great grandchildren; and one brother, Harry Simpkins of Gallipolis. In addition to his parents and two wives, he was preceded in death by ten brothers and one sister. Services will be 2 p.m., Sunday, July 1, 2007 at the Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Alfred Holley officiating. Burial will follow in Providence Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, June 30, 2007 from 6-8 p.m. The grandchildren will be pallbearers.
