Elizabeth Woodyard Ross, 67, of Crown City, Ohio passed away Saturday, June 8, 2013 at her residence. She was born on December 23, 1945 in Wayne County, West Virginia, daughter of the late Scott and Martha Frasher Merritt. She had worked as an upholsterer. Elizabeth married Dwight Woodyard in 1963 and he preceded her in death in 1997. They had two children, Dwight “Bubby” Woodyard of Gallipolis, and Jackie Woodyard Hupfer of Proctorville, Ohio; two step daughters Christina (Steve) Wallis of Gallipolis and Shari Woodyard Kemp of Houston, Texas, six grandchildren Shane Kemp of Houston, Ryan Glover of Gallipolis, Davie (Rashell Hupfer) Woodyard of Crown City, Beth (Andrew) Fuller of Proctorville, Joey Woodyard, and Jodi Woodyard both of Gallipolis; step grandchildren, Brittany Hupfer of Pennsylvania, Sally White of Tennessee and Tomacina Turley of Crown City; two great grandchildren, Also surviving is her spouse, Owen Ross of Crown City, Ohio., two brothers Scott (Judy) Merritt of Huntington, Hugh (Donna) Merritt of Wayne, WV, four sisters Vergie McCarther of Lavalette, WV, Faye (Howard) White of Pennsylvania, Sharon (Delmer) Adkins, and Freda (Jim) Alexander of Barboursville, WV. She was preceded in death by her first husband, parents, and by three brothers Charlie, Dennis and Glenn Merritt. Liz had many family and friends to comfort her in her last days; she had battled Lung Breast Cancer for eight years, before she was taken home to be with our Lord. A wonderful lady, Yolanda Bleigh, helped to care for Liz and make her days easier. Funeral services will be 1 pm Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Emual Adkins officiating.
