Emogene Swain

Emogene Swain, 87, of the Mercerville Community, went to be with her Lord and Savior with her family by her side on Sunday, June 17, 2012 at her residence. She was born November 17, 1924 in Gallia County, Ohio, daughter of the late William and Mertie Wells Shoemaker. Emogene married Willard “Joe” Swain and he preceded her in death on June 15, 1998. She was a member of Northup Baptist Church. Emogene was retired from the Gallipolis Developmental Center. Surviving are three daughters, Karen (Walter) Gooldin of Mt. Sterling, Ohio, Jennine (Willie) Wood and Darla Caldwell, both of Gallipolis, Ohio; three sons, Jack Swain of Gallipolis, Nick (Lynn) Swain and Kevin Swain, both of Mercerville, Ohio; fifteen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; a brother, Clenden Shoemaker of Gallipolis, Ohio; her special companion, Kitten Ann; special caregivers, Carolyn Watson, June Triplett and Robin Love. In addition to her parents and her husband, Joe Swain, she was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law Loretta Swain, two sisters Hazel Sheets and Kathleen Sirback and a brother Nobele Shoemaker. Services will be 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at the Willis Funeral Home with Pastors Dean Warner and Jim Lusher officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery. Her grandsons will be the pallbearers. There will be no visitation. There will be no visitation
