Ernest “Ernie” McKinney, 77, of Gallipolis, Ohio passed away on Sunday, September 02, 2007 at the Holzer Medical Center. Ernie was born on March 12, 1930 in Addison, Ohio son of the late Charles and Lillie Casto McKinney. Ernie attended the Cornerstone Church and the First Church of the Nazarene. He enjoyed walking and riding his bicycle in downtown Gallipolis. He had won many awards for having the best decorated bicycle in the 4th of July Parade. He also had worked at G.C. Murphy’s, McDonalds, and Gallco in Cheshire. Ernie is survived by a sister Hazel Dale Workman of Gallipolis, a brother Gene Shirley McKinney of Sterling Heights, MI; sisters-in-law Kate Phillips of Pomeroy, OH, Maxine McKinney of FL, and Mary McKinney of Grove City, Ohio; brother-in-law E.B. “Shorty” Casto of FL. Several nieces and nephews survive. Ernie was preceded in death by his parents, and by a sister Lucy Casto, and by 3 brothers, Burdell McKinney, Willie McKinney, and Leonard McKinney. Services will be 1 pm Wednesday September 5, 2007 at Willis Funeral Home with Pastors Isaac Shupe, Gene Harmon, and Bob Fulton officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Street Cemetery.
