Evalyn Josephine Eva Jo Mckenzie

Evalyn Josephine “Eva Jo” McKenzie, 94, of Gallipolis, passed away on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at Holzer Medical Center. She was born October 25, 1915 in Pomeroy, daughter of the late Walter P. and Lucy Jane Moore White and wife to the late C.H. “Casey” McKenzie. Casey and Eva Jo were active in the community, devoted to its growth and development as well as an association with Bob Evans Farms, Inc. and the University of Rio Grande. Eva Jo’s heart was also so true and tender; devoting her life to those she loved. Today, we honor her, while cherishing our memories together. Mom and Momma will be missed dearly and forever held close in our hearts. Eva Jo is survived by one daughter, Janice K. McKenzie; seven grandchildren, Jody Eddie Harrington, Jason Tammi Sommer, Joe Holly Moody, Jennifer Hugh Graham, Jill Gabe Bevan, Erica Alex Saunders, all of Gallipolis and Seth Stephanie Thompson of Villa Hills, Kentucky; twelve great grandchildren, Candice Sommer, Robert Casey Sommer, Alexis and Jacson Bevan, Joey Moody, Hobie Graham, Brody Saunders, Nolan Thompson, Jessica Johnson, Jay Carr, Josie Carr, Justin Flinner; three great great grandchildren, Leslie Burchett, Jayla Sturgeon, Eden Johnson; former son-in-law Rick Moody and special friend and caregiver, Yvonne Price. In addition to her parents and husband C.H. “Casey” McKenzie, she was preceded in death by a daughter Nanette McKenzie Moody, a grandson John Sommer, two brothers Bill and Eli White, two sisters Freda Ebersbaugh and Alta White Deval, sister-in-law Kathleen Mygatt, niece Mandy Starcher, great great grandchild Ashley Nichole Sommer, former son-in-law Mike Sommer, and special friend and caregiver Sharon Rizer. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 23, 2010 at the Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Lusher officiating. Burial will follow in Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, April 22, 2010 from 5-7 p.m. Pallbearers will be Joe Moody, Rick Moody, Justin Flinner, Casey Sommer, Eddie Harrington, Kyle Dople, Seth Thompson, Gabe Bevan, and Bumper Graham. Honorary pallbearer will be Jason Sommer. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Eva Jo’s memory to Alzheimer’s Association or your favorite charity.
