Evangelist Lewis E. Mikell

Evangelist Lewis E. Mikell, 91, of Gallipolis, passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at Holzer Senior Care Center. He was born May 14, 1922 in Morriston, Florida, son of the late Edward L. and Maggie Myrick Mikell. He married Ruth E. Mikell and she preceded him in death on February 25, 1988. In addition to his parents and first wife, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, William N. Mikell and Alvin Mikell. Surviving are his wife, Eva Hanshew Mikell of Gallipolis; six stepchildren; one brother Dayton Mikell of Gainesville, Florida; and three half sisters, Dorcas, Patty and Rowena, all of Florida. He was the minister of the Church of Christ in Gallipolis for 9 years, the Wildwood, Florida Church of Christ for 3 years, the Pt. Pleasant Church of Christ for 6 years, the Johnston, Pennsylvania Church of Christ for 2 years and served over 600 evangelistical meetings throughout the United States. Services will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, July 5, 2013 at the Chapel Hill Church of Christ with Evangelist George Erwin and Evangelist Jonathon McAnulty officiating. Burial will be in Mound Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 12-1 p.m. prior to the funeral.
