Everett Oakley Johnson, 90, of Crown City, departed this life on Monday, April 27, 2009 at the Arbors at Gallipolis. He was born December 27, 1918 to the late Edward and Eva Ours Johnson. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Georgia, four brothers, Lawrence, Clayton, Gilbert and Charlie, and two sisters, Mary Warren and Clema Layne. Mr. Johnson was a World War II veteran who served his country from February, 1942 to November, 1944 as a medic in the Army. He retired from A.C.F. Industries in Huntington, West Virginia. He was a member of Kings Chapel, where he served as a deacon for 45 years. He leaves behind to mourn his death, one son, Everett Lee Sandy Johnson; one daughter, Edna Ruth Jack Rankin; five grandchildren, Dustin Lee Erica Johnson, Rebecca Leland Ours, Lisa Ernie Meadows, Rodney Jeanette Rankin, Scott Michelle Rankin; eight great grandchildren, Chad, Kala and Dara Ours, Shane, Hope and Paige Meadows, and Zachary and Kyle Rankin. Services will be 1 p.m., Thursday, April 30, 2009 at Kings Chapel with Rev. Matthew Henry and Rev. Jack Rankin officiating. His body will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Miller Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the Willis Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 29, 2009 from 6-8 p.m. There will be full military services conducted by volunteers of area veteran's lodges.
