Freda J. Thorne

Freda J. Tope Thorne, 95, of Thurman, passed away Thursday, March 25, 2010 at Holzer Assisted Living. She was born October 18, 1914 in Gallia County, Ohio, daughter of the late Harry W. and Ollie Champer Tope. Freda married Ernest G. Thorne and he preceded her in death on September 13, 1993. She graduated from Rio Grande College and was a school teacher and homemaker. Freda was a member of Simpson Chapel United Methodist Church, Rio Grande. Surviving are her daughter, Diana Carlos Carrales of Gallipolis; five grandchildren, Ray Debbie Weiher III, Tami Gary Walter, Teri Kirt Dooley, Julie Lynch, Ronnie Lynch; two great grandchildren, Amber Travis Arthur and Dustin Weiher; three great great grandchildren, Kylee Arthur, Travis Arthur Jr., Madison Weiher; sisters-in-law, Betty Tope and Ruth Thorne Perry; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Ernest G. Thorne in 1993, she is preceded in death by two daughters, Sandra J. Lynch in 1986 and Theresa Fellure in 1978, one sister Mildred Tope and one brother Paul Tope. Services will be 1:00 p.m., Sunday, March 28, 2010 at the Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Marc Sarrett officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, March 27, 2010 from 5-7 p.m. Pallbearers will be Ray Weiher III, Dustin Weiher, Ronnie Lynch, Gary Walter, Kirt Dooley, and Travis Arthur.
