Frederick William "Fred" Wheeler

Frederick William "Fred" Wheeler, 70, of Gallipolis, Ohio passed away on Friday, December 30, 2022 at Holzer Medical Center Emergency Room.

Born on July 30, 1952 in Gallipolis, Ohio, Fred was the son of the late Harry and Hazel Wheeler. On February 10, 1986, Fred married Margaret "Margi" Ehman Wheeler, who survives him in Gallipolis. Fred retired as a mechanical engineer from AEP in September 2015; he also worked over twenty years for the Gallia County EMS. He graduated from Gallia Academy High School and Hocking Technical College; Fred earned a Bachelor of Science from Bowling Green State University. Fred was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Morning Dawn Lodge #7, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite of the Valley of Gallipolis, and Gallipolis Chapter #283 Order of Eastern Star. He was a member of the 1969 All-Ohio State Fair Youth Choir and the 1970 European Tour Choir.

Fred is survived by his wife Margi Wheeler of Gallipolis; daughter, Lindsey (Patrick) Karnes of Canal Winchester, Ohio; grandsons, Grayson Karnes and Sullivan Karnes of Canal Winchester; sister-in-law, Dianne Wheeler of Gallipolis; nephews, Jason Wheeler (Elyssa Wanosik) of Canal Winchester, Cliff (Kalena) Wheeler of Louisville, Ohio, and Jacob Wheeler of Thurman, Ohio; great niece, Makenzie Wheeler of Louisville, Ohio; great nephew, Collin Wheeler of Louisville, Ohio; and several cousins, Masonic brothers, Eastern Star sisters and brothers; and close friends.

In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by a brother, Tom Wheeler.

The funeral service for Fred will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Ray Kane officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at Willis Funeral Home. At 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, there will be an Eastern Star Service, immediately followed by a Masonic Service at the funeral home.  Additional calling hours will be prior to the funeral Wednesday from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Jason Wheeler, Cliff Wheeler, Jacob Wheeler, Patrick Karnes, Dennis Burns, and Jim Ehman. Honorary pallbearers will be Craig Ellis and Chuck Stanley.
