Gay I. Jeffers

Gay I. Jeffers, 83, of Gallipolis, passed away on Sunday, August 15, 2010 at her residence. She was born on May 3, 1927 in Trimble, Ohio, daughter of the late James D. and Maude May Jones Smith. Gay was married to John J. Jeffers and he preceded her in death on November 30, 2009. She was a member of First Church of God, where she was a longtime pianist and a member of the Ladies VFW Auxiliary. Surviving are three children, Jill D. Roush of Grapevine, Texas, Karen Ora Shaver of Chillicothe, Ohio and Dennis Donna Kittle of Springfield, Ohio; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great great grandson; and several nieces and nephews. Gay was preceded in death by her parents, Charles LeRoy and Edna Sprague who raised her in their home in Waterford, Ohio, her husband John J. Jeffers, a son John Michael Jeffers, two sisters Nellie Lou McKee and Eva Morton, and a brother Billy Smith. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at Providence Cemetery with Pastor Paul Voss officiating. Burial will follow the services.
