Gene McGuire, 78, Gallipolis, and formerly of Jackson, Ohio went home to be with the Lord, on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at the Abbyshire Place. Gene was born on April 9, 1934 in Pikeville, Kentucky, son of the Arvid and Esther Smith McGuire. He was retired from Woodland Centers, where he was the finance director. Gene attended the Gallipolis Christian Church and was an U.S. Army Veteran. Gene was married to Mary Ann Walker McGuire on March 27, 1953 and she survives in Gallipolis. He is also survived by his children Leesa (Stan) York of Columbiana, Ohio, Keith (Janet) McGuire, and Angela (Dwayne) Houck both of Gallipolis. Gene has six grandchildren, Jenna and Coleen York, Andrea and Rebecca Houck, and Brianna and Braden McGuire, a sister Annette Mannion of Lake Worth, FL and a brother Wayne (Nancy) McGuire of Lake Wales, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Mavis Ison, and one brother Dale McGuire. Funeral services will be 11 am Thursday, July 5, 2012 at the Gallipolis Christian Church with Ministers Don Kesner and Mike Lynn officiating. Burial will follow in the Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. Friends may call at the Gallipolis Christian Church of Wednesday, July 4, 2012 from 4-7 pm and on Thursday at the church from 10 am until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Gene’s Memory to the Gallia County Veterans Service for its transportation services. There will be a military flag presentation at the graveside by volunteers of area veteran’s lodges. Willis Funeral Home is in care of arrangements.
