George E. “Big Red” Roush, 83, of Gallipolis, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2013 at his residence. He was born April 29, 1930 in Mason, West Virginia, son of the late Edgar and Ruth Betz Roush. George married Mable Smith and she survives him. He was a U.S. Navy Korean War veteran and a member of VFW 4464. George retired from Century Aluminum. Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Mable Roush of Gallipolis; a stepdaughter, Cindy (Greg) Bryant of Gallipolis; a son, Keith (Teresa) Spurlock of Gallipolis; a grandson, Austin Spurlock and a granddaughter, Tara Dalton; a great granddaughter, Jacy Maynard; two nieces, Beverly and Denise Roush; a cousin, Arnold Roush; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Raymond Roush, a grandson Shawn Maynard and a granddaughter Heather Peck. Services will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, August 29, 2013 at the Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Jimmy Chapman officiating. Burial will follow in Mina Chapel Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. There will be military graveside services by the Gallia County Funeral Detail. Pallbearers will be Randy Smith, Eddie Shriver, Carl Henry Smith, Jason Shriver, Jared Vernon, and Austin Spurlock. Honorary Pallbearers will be Billy Ward, Cody Ward, and Tex Workman.
