Helen Marie Taylor

Helen Marie Taylor, 84, of Patriot, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at Holzer Senior Care Center. Helen was born on August 9, 1939 in Meigs County, Ohio, daughter of Darlene and Ray Warren.

Helen grew up in Patriot and attended Patriot Methodist Church with her family. She was very much a tomboy and enjoyed being active, especially outside. Often, she was found in the garden with a salt shaker, eating tomatoes, her favorite.

Helen also loved to play sports and was starting first baseman for her Cadmus High School team. This was also where she met Leo. In 1956, Helen married Leo Taylor and together they had three beautiful children, Terry, David, and Steven. She was a dedicated mother, both working and keeping a home. She became a great cook and she was always involved with her kids. So much so that she was the umpire for their little league.

From her days as a child playing outside, to playing baseball in high school, to playing basketball with her kids, Helen just loved being active. And she would not let you win either, beating her children at the basketball game horse. Even making crazy over the back shots without looking. She could beat anyone at golf, outshoot them, and probably out race them. She eventually got on a bowling team and competed for many years, making many friends.

Helen could do anything she set her mind to. She made friends everywhere she worked and everywhere she traveled. And through it all, the traveling, moving, and work, Helen would sacrifice everything for her children whom she loved so very much. From this unconditional love and devotion have grown eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Helen is survived by the father of her children, Leo Taylor; her daughter, Terry Taylor; sons, David (Dawn) Taylor and Steven (Teresa) Taylor; grandchildren, Justina Taylor, Amber (Matthew) Shinn, Shelby Taylor, Madison Taylor, Hannah Taylor, Sarah Taylor, Nicole Taylor, Kelsey (Zak) Gilleland, Austin Taylor, Logan Taylor, and Ashley Taylor; several great grandchildren; special friends, Tracy Roberts and Danny Petrus; and many others friends and family.

The funeral service for Helen will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 16, 2024 at Patriot Church with Pastor Jane Ann Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Patriot Cemetery.
