Herbert Leroy Cordell, Sr.

Herbert LeRoy Cordell, Sr., 72, of Gallipolis, Ohio passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2022 at Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe, Ohio.

Born on November 29, 1949 in Bidwell, Ohio, Lee was the son of the late Pearl S. and Katherine Minnis Cordell.  Lee married Angela Caldwell Cordell, who survives him in Gallipolis.  He retired from AEP Meigs Mine #3 as a coal miner and owned and operated Happy Corner for 28 years.

Lee is survived by his wife, Angela Caldwell Cordell of Gallipolis; children; Herbert Eugene (Lori) Cordell, Jr. of Vinton, Ohio, Kenneth Cordell of Columbus, Ohio, Lynn Cordell of Gallipolis, and Tiffany Cordell of Dayton, Ohio; stepchildren, Mike Rose of Kentucky and Dawn Caldwell of Gallipolis; fourteen grandchildren; one great grandchild; 5 step grandchildren; two sisters, Cleo (Otis) Grant of Columbus and Pearly Morrison of Flint, Michigan; and former wife, Thelma Patterson.

In addition to his parents, Lee was preceded in death by a daughter, Tonya Cordell; great granddaughter, Mirrical Nevaeh Cordell; siblings, Jimmy Miller, Ronnie Cordell, Charles Cordell, Paul Sylvester Cordell, Marcie Cordell, and Sandra Cordell; step daughter, Brandy Mannon; and ex-wife, Debra Cordell.

At this time, no public services will be held for Lee.  Willis Funeral Home is assisting the family.
