Herbert Allen Loomis

Herbert Allen Loomis, 89, of Northup, died Tuesday, September 29 at Holzer Medical Center. He was born August 30, 1920, in Berea, Ohio, a son of the late Dorothy Lewis and Albert Loomis. Herbert was a retired employee of AT & T Ohio Bell and a U.S. Navy veteran of WW II. He also formerly owned and operated Loomis TV Service. He was a member of the St. Louis Catholic Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Loomis. He is survived by his wife, Margaret T. Sekerak, who he married on June 9, 1945 in Cleveland; daughter, Judy Lance E. Clifford of Northup; son, Timothy Sandi Loomis of Mayfield Heights, Ohio; six grandchildren, Heather Clifford Josh Skaggs of Gallipolis, Alan Clifford of Washington, D.C., Heidi Jason Turcotte and Katie Loomis, both of Atlanta, Georgia, Emily Seth Ellis of Blacksburg, Virginia, and Erik Jennifer Loomis of Bratenahl, Ohio. He is also survived by four great grandchildren. Services will be 10 a.m., Friday, October 2, 2009 at the Willis Funeral Home with Monsignor William Myers officiating. Burial will follow in St. Louis Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, October 1, 2009 from 4-7 p.m. There will be a flag presentation at the graveside by volunteers of area veteran’s lodges. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Herbert’s memory to the American Heart Association or St. Louis Catholic Church.
