Herbert Herb Slone, 77, of Bidwell, passed away on Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at Overbrook Center, Middleport, Ohio. He was born on July 1, 1933 in Salt Rock, West Virginia, son of the late Shellio and Nari Queen Slone. Herb was married to Zeffie Loveday Slone and she survives him. He had been employed by Evans Bakery, owned two Sunoco stations in Kanauga and Gallipolis, operated an Ashland station in Gallipolis, Bob Evans Farms, and retired from the Philip Sporn Corporation. He was a member of Church of God of Prophecy, Gallipolis. Surviving are his wife, Zeffie Slone of Bidwell; three sons, Steve (Shelly) Slone of Gallipolis, Jeff (Julia) Slone and John (Mia) Slone, both of Crown City; stepchildren, Walter (Carolyn) Loveday of Gallipolis, Johnny (Ruth Ann) Loveday and Albert (Penny) Loveday, both of Bidwell, Toni Deviney of Davenport, Iowa; several grandchildren; three brothers, Jack (Mimi) Slone, Ronnie (Sheryl) Slone and Ray (Sheila) Slone, all of Crown City; two sisters, Ella Mae Cox of Crown City and Pauline (Rex) Unroe of Gallipolis; sisters-in-law, Viola Slone of Crown City, Zenie Evans of Patriot, and Faith Ann Stover of Gallipolis Ferry, West Virginia; several nieces and nephews. Herb was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Shelly Dale Slone, William Bill Slone, Richard Slone, and Jim Slone. Services will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 29, 2011 at the Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Pat Henson officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgelawn Cemetery.
