Herman H. Saunders

Herman H. Saunders, 80, of Gallipolis, passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2011 at the Holzer Medical Center Emergency Room. He was born February 28, 1931 in Cabell County, West Virginia, son of the late Omar and Eugenia Wright Saunders. Herman was married to Virginia Jenny Little and she survives him. He worked at Valley Bell Dairy and retired from Amarillo Meat Packing Company. He was a member of Chapel Hill Church of Christ and the National Rifle Association. Surviving are his wife, Virginia Jenny Saunders of Gallipolis, Ohio; six children, Dale Saunders of Gallipolis, Ohio, Robin (Robert)Dunaway and Ralph (Elaine) Saunders, both of Florida, Darla Merola of Gallipolis, Ohio, Diane (Jack) Levine of Piketon, Ohio, Bambi (Gary) Bowman of Proctorville, Ohio; two stepchildren, Tonya Lewis and Walter Lewis, both of Proctorville, Ohio; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters and brother, Beulah Stone of Cincinnati, Ohio, Grace Funk of Monticello, Florida, Ethel Saunders and Albert (Corena) Saunders, both of Gallipolis, Ohio; a special niece, Kay Sweesy of Gallipolis, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters, Garland Saunders, Olive Brown, Marie Slagle, Fern Henry and Louise Saunders. Services will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, November 21, 2011 at the Willis Funeral Home with Evangelist Lewis Mikell officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgelawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00 1:00 p.m. on Monday prior to the service.
