Hilda M. Barry

Hilda M. Barry, 83, of Gallipolis, Ohio passed away on Saturday, February 27, 2010 in the emergency room at Holzer Medical Center. She was born on July 9, 1926 in Lawrence County, Ohio to the late Rutherford and Maggie Locey Burcham, Sr. Hilda was retired from the Gallipolis Developmental Center as a T.P.W. with thirty years of service. She was a member of the Chapel Hill Church of Christ, and the V.F.W. Ladies Auxillary. Hilda enjoyed playing cards with her card group on Thursday's and enjoyed bowling. She loved spending time with her family and her neighborhood friends. Hilda was married to Oran C. 'Tope' Barry, Sr. and he preceded her in death on March 12, 1974. She is survived by two sons Oran C. Joyce Barry, Jr. of Gallipolis, and Jesse O. Chong Barry of Browns Mill, NJ, a daughter Ollie Ron Paxton of Gallipolis, a daughter-in-law Liz Elliott of Crown City, 8 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren; two sisters, Lova Hall of Belleview, FL, and Sheila LeRoy Ramey of Athalia, OH, three brothers Jack Deanie Burcham and Larry Charlotte Burcham both of Proctorville, OH, Jerry Jean Burcham of Crown City, OH; two sisters-in-law, Billie Burcham of Huntington, WV and Minnie Lou Burcham Kaiser of Chesapeake, OH. Hilda was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son Paul R. Barry, two brothers Conley Burcham and Rutherford Burcham, Jr, and a sister Betty Miller. Funeral services will be 1 pm Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at Willis Funeral Home with Evangelist Lewis Mikell officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgelawn Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 from 6-8 pm at Willis Funeral Home. There will be a V.F.W. Ladies Auxillary service at 7:30 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
