Hollis Wayne Watson, 72, of Thurman, passed away on Monday, July 15, 2019 at his residence. He was born April 9, 1947 in Huntington, West Virginia, son of the late Chauncey D. and Hilldred Barry Watson. Hollis was married to Betty Jean Sanders and she survives him. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. This month he would celebrate 50 years of service with the Union Labor Local #83 and was a member of Elizabeth Chapel Church. Surviving in addition to his wife, Betty Jean Watson; a daughter, Mindy (Paul) Neil of Charleston, West Virginia; the joy of his life, his granddaughter, MacKenzie Ramsey; his sister and brothers, Mrs. Donna (Terry) Chapman of Crown City, Charles (Carolyn) Watson of Mansfield, Ohio, Dale (Shirley A.) Watson, Bill (Linda) Watson, Gean (Debbie) Watson, Johnny (Shirley Y.) Watson, all of Crown City; sisters-in-law Carolyn Beaver and Jackie Sanders; brothers-in-law Merill (Judy) Sanders and John (Sharon) Sanders; and a host of nieces, nephews and treasured friends. Preceding him in death in addition to his parents are a son, Dallas Wayne Watson in 1987 and two brothers, Virgil R. Watson and Dean Watson. Friends may call from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 18, 2019 at the Willis Funeral Home. Services will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, July 19, 2019 at the Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Cheesebrew officiating. Burial will follow in Providence Cemetery. There will be full military honors given at the graveside by the Gallia County Funeral Detail.
