Hubert “Hugh” Francis, 80, of Gallipolis, Ohio passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at his residence.
Born on April 14, 1943 in Pikeville, Kentucky, Hugh was the son of the late John and Loraine Crum Francis. On April 4, 1964, Hugh married Sue Cox Francis who survives him in Gallipolis. Hugh served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam; he was named Veteran of the Month in September 2023. Hugh earned an Associate Degree in Fine Woodworking. He worked for AEP Southern Coal and retired in 2005. Hugh was a member of First Church of the Nazarene in Gallipolis. He was a member of Gold Wing Road Riders Association Chapter C-2. Hugh and his wife Sue made several trips to California on their Gold Wing; they also road to all lower 48 states on their Gold Wing.
Hugh is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Sue Francis; son, Brian Keith Francis (Bre Patterson); three grandchildren, Lilly Francis, Ella Francis, and Ace Francis; brothers-in-law, Bob (Loretta) Cox, Phil Cox, and Danny (Amanda) Cox; sister-in-law, Pam Williams; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Hugh will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at Willis Funeral Home with Pastor David Brown and Pastor Eugene Harmon officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Street Cemetery with a military service and military honors provided by the Gallia County Funeral Detail. Calling hours will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 29, 2024 at Willis Funeral Home.
