Irene Yeno Kinney, 98, a long-time resident of Dover Plains, NY, and a more recently a resident of Gallipolis, Ohio died on Saturday March 2, 2013 at the Holzer Assisted Living in Gallipolis, Ohio. Mrs. Kinney graduated from Dover High School and Plattsburg State Teachers’ College and spent over 30 years teaching elementary school. She then spent the remainder of her teaching career teaching at the Dover Plains Elementary School. During her retirement, Irene, (who like to be called “Renee”) was a member of the South Amenia Senior Citizens’ Center and especially enjoyed attending the luncheons there with her sister, Mary. Mrs. Kinney was married to John Hennessey Kinney who predeceased her, and had two sons, Edward Kinney who predeceased her and Dr. John Hennessey Kinney who practiced medicine in Gallipolis, Ohio. She is survived by her son, John, his wife, Deborah, a brother, William Yeno, Jr., and several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. Her brother, Edward Yeno, and her sisters, Mary Yeno Barnes, Helen Yeno Sutton, Anna Yeno McCarthy, Josephine Yeno, and Theresa Yeno Zulkowski died before her. Mrs. Kinney’s took great joy in spending time with her entire family, and especially her son, John and daughter-in-law, Deborah. She will always be remembered for her sense of humor, her warm smile and the kindness she shared with her friends and family.
