Jack C. Kuchel, 81, of Gallipolis, passed away on Sunday, June 27, 2010 at his residence. He was born September 28, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois, son of the late Jacob and Katherine Brunner Kuchel. Jack was married to Ilene Wygal Kuchel and she preceded him in death on September 27, 2002. He was a retired Florida Steel Maintenance Supervisor. Jack spent time in a Russian concentration camp in Belgrad, Russia during World War II where he lost his family before he escaped to Austria. Surviving are two stepdaughters, Jane Wygal Campbell of Bidwell, Ohio and Nancy Dave Setzer of Barboursville, West Virginia; four step grandchildren, Kim Schimmoeller of Lima, Ohio, Holly Bob Corolla of California, Maryland, Paige Adams of High Point, North Carolina, and Terry Roemer of Kernersville, North Carolina; nine step great grandchildren, Ryan, Jostin, Kallie, Sabrie, Ty, Colton, Thomas, Matt, and Catie; a sister-in-law, Pearl Tiffner; special friends, J.R. and Kay Estep, Patty Daniels, Carl Schimmoeller and his loving companions, Daisy and Bobo who preceded him in death. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ilene Kuchel, three sisters Marion, Katie and Ann and his brothers Charlie and Frank. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at the Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Marvin Sallee officiating. Burial will follow in Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 1-2 p.m. on Wednesday prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Monty Swain, Dennis Salisbury, Carl Schimmoeller, Jostin Schimmoeller, Albert Stevens, and Ike Knighting.
