Jack Simms

Jack Simms, 73, of Gallipolis, went home to be with his Savior on Friday, January 30, 2009 at his residence. Jack was a retired supervisor with Columbus and Southern Electric Company; a member of the Good News Baptist Church, an U.S. Army Veteran; member of V.F.W. Post 4464; member of the Gideon's International; member of the Carpenter's for Christ, member of the Red Cross Disaster Relief, and a former Boy Scout leader for Troop 200. Jack graduated from Gallia Academy High School in 1955. Jack was born on February 11, 1935 in Gallia County to the late Stanley and Mary Florence Taylor Simms. He was married to Minada Murray Simms on March 10, 1963 in Pomeroy, Ohio and she survives in Gallipolis, along with two daughters, Natalie David Fooce of Gallipolis, and Alicia Brion Pinkerton of Fairbanks, Alaska; a son Brent Michelle Simms of Gallipolis; seven grandchildren, Corey Meghan Pinkerton of Missouri, Devon Megan Pinkerton of Idaho; Caleb and Stacy Fooce of Gallipolis, Jack, Owen and Katie Simms of Gallipolis; one great granddaughter Spencer Pinkerton of Idaho; one sister Jane John Milhoan of Gallipolis, two brothers Jim Bonnie Simms and Jay Lois Jean Simms both of Gallipolis; a brother-in-law Kenny Irion of Columbus; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Ed Simms in 1994, two brothers Bob and Bill Simms, and by a sister Charlotte Irion. Services will be 11 am Monday, February 2, 2009 at Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Cliff Curry officiating. Burial will follow in the Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. Friends may call on Sunday, February 1, 2009 from 2-6 pm at Willis Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Brent Simms, Brion Pinkerton, David Fooce, Jimmy Simms, Bob Simms, and Caleb Fooce; Honorary Pallbearers will be Jim Simms, Jay Simms, John Milhoan, Chuck Murray, Frank Irion, and Corey and Devon Pinkerton. There will be full military services at the graveside by volunteers of area veteran lodges.
