Jacklyn Rudd Killen, RN, BSN, OCN, died Sunday May 4th at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, WV due to complications from COPD. She was 77 years old. Jackie was born in Frankfort, KY and raised in Ashland, KY. Jackie was known as having a passion for life and overcoming obstacles with a stubborn tenacity, Jackie died as she lived: With a dogged determination that would never recede. She died with her body completely spent and broken and clinging to life with every last fiber of her being. Well done good and faithful servant! Jackie worked at Holzer Medical Center for 25 years until she retired at the age of 72 as a Registered Nurse, a calling that defined her and for which she dedicated her spirit. Over the years she worked in Pediatrics, Nursery, and Oncology where she was certified by the Oncology Nursing Society and Pain Management. As a Pain Management expert she was one of the first Pain Management Nurses to receive the Ohio Pain Initiative Excellence in Pain Management Award in 2002. As a broken sinner she accepted a relationship with Jesus many years ago and was a charter member of New Life Lutheran Church in Gallipolis. She was also a member of the Pythian Sisters and the Oncology Nursing Association.
