James Alan Scott

James Alan 'Jimmy' Scott, 38, of Chicago, Illinois, formerly of Gallipolis, passed away on Monday, January 19, 2009 at Swedish Covenant Hospital in Chicago. He was born February 17, 1970 in Gallipolis, son of Alan and Becky Tawney Scott, who survive him. Jimmy was married to Dianne McKenna and she also survives him. He was a Spanish teacher at Sullivan High School in Chicago and a member of the Mayfair Presbyterian Church in Chicago. He graduated from Gallia Academy High School in 1988, then received his Bachelor's Degree from The Ohio State University and a Master's Degree from Miami University Ohio. Surviving are his wife, Dianne McKenna Scott of Chicago; two children, Sophia and Mason; his parents, Alan and Becky Scott of Gallipolis; two sisters, Tandy Steve Flint of Gallipolis and Julie Smith of Mason, West Virginia; a brother-in-law, Greg Smith of Gallipolis; nieces and nephews, Andrea and Derek Flint, Shannan and Chad Smith; a paternal grandmother, Geneva Scott and a maternal grandmother, Mabel Tawney, both of Gallipolis; several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Max Tawney and Lewis Scott. Services will be 2 p.m., Sunday, January 25, 2009 at Grace United Methodist Church with Pastor Bill Thomas and Jane Ann Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Gravel Hill Cemetery.
