James A. Smith, Jr.

James A. Smith, Jr., 77, of Bidwell, Ohio passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at his residence.

Born on September 6, 1945 in Albany, Ohio, James was the son of the late James A. and Vada Ada McCallister Smith. James married Edith June Smith, on February 19, 1965; and she survives him in Bidwell. He was a mechanic and attended Promised Land Church.

James is survived by his wife of 57 years, June Smith of Bidwell; son, James A. “Jamie” (Heather) Smith III of Bidwell; daughters, Kimberly D. (Charlie) Cox, Kris Glassburn, and Kelly R. Wooldridge (Fiance Matt Eurell) all of Bidwell; seven grandchildren, Tyler and Tayler Wooldridge, Zachary Cox, Kyle Bays, Alyssa Sands, Maddi Schneider, and Gabe Smith; 15 great grandchildren; special friends, Kathy Lively of Vinton, Ohio and Bella Payne of Bidwell; brothers, Jerry (Goldie) Smith of Bidwell and Tom Smith of Gallipolis, Ohio; and sisters, Flossie (Mike) Jude of Vinton, Geraldine (Skip) Moore of Jackson, Ohio, Stella (Bob) Blankenship of Shade, Ohio, Dot (Carl) Smith of Langsville, Ohio, Becky (Bill) Lambert of Langsville, Wanda Nelson of Malta, Ohio, and Bonnie Cleland of Florida.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by a brother, Darrell Smith.

The funeral service for James will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Truman Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Centenary Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday at the funeral home prior to the funeral service from 11 a.m.- 1:00 p.m.
