James Paul Whittington went HOME to be with the Lord after an extended illness on February 24, 2011. James (Jim) was born February 12, 1932 to the late George and Gertrude Whittington in Nitro, West Virginia. He is the last of 15 children. He married Dorothy Jane Lanier, the prettiest woman in the world, on July 30, 1950 and to this union was born three daughters whom survive; Connie Sue (Wayne) Gee of Bidwell and Cathy June (Jim) Sisson and Judy Lynn (Mike) Eblin, both of Gallipolis. James was a member of the Church of Christ in Christian Union. He was the owner/operator of Whittingtons BP for 25 years. He enjoyed ministering for God in the Gospel Bluegrass Gentlemen and Brenda band, playing his banjo. He loved all instruments, the outdoors, hunting with family, woodworking, painting and family reunions. He was a very talented family man and loved by all. His number one priority was caring for his wife, and serving God together! Also, surviving are nine grandchildren, Chris Parsons, Traci (Chris) Good, Jamie (Amy) Sisson, Charity (Rob) Rausch, Stephen (Jessica) Sisson, David (Chasiti) Eblin, Brian (Jackie) Parsons, Angela (Matt) Chiodo, Mark Parsons and sixteen great grandchildren, Mariah, Chelsey, Taylor, CJ, Trinity, Brett, Riley, Reid, James, Matiah, Brian, Reni, Rowan, Luke, Cali, Janaya. One great granddaughter Bailey preceded him in death, also two pet companions which he loved dearly Buttons #1 and Buttons #2. The six grandsons will be Grandpa Jims pallbearers. Calling hours will be Sunday, February 27, 2011 at the Church of Christ in Christian Union, Gallipolis, Ohio from 1-4 p.m. with the celebration service beginning at 4 p.m. with Pastors Bob Isaacs and Bud Allman officiating. Burial will follow at the Centenary Cemetery.
