Janet Peggy Ilene Ferguson

October 22, 1937 — March 15, 2010

Janet 'Peggy' Ilene Ferguson, 72, of Gallipolis, took her flight in the arms of Jesus to join her loving family and friends on Monday, March 15, 2010, surrounded by her family at home. Her courageous struggle through her illness mirrored her passion and joy for life. She was born October 22, 1937 in Gallia County, daughter of the late Hiram and Cora Mae Massie Cox. She enjoyed 51 years of marriage to Raymond G. Ferguson of Barboursville, WV. They made a home in Gallipolis, OH and had two daughters. Peggy retired as a pharmacy technician after 30 years of service at Gallipolis Developmental Center and attended Mina Chapel Church in her younger years. She enjoyed painting, crafts, quilting, fishing, vacationing in Nags Head, NC and spending time with family. She was a passionate member of a bowling league for many years at Sky Line Lanes. She attended National Bowling Tournaments and received many awards and trophies throughout the years. She is also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. Peggy loved her family dearly and her love and devotion will be deeply missed. She is survived by her husband, Raymond G. Ferguson; two daughters, Suzie Ronald Love of Letart, WV and Brenda Snyder of Gallipolis; four grandchildren, Chad Jennifer Cox of Gallipolis, Missy Bryan Cox Johnson of Huntington, WV, William Rachel Snyder of Gallipolis and Scott Cortney Snyder of Gallipolis; and seven great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Betty Rutt and her brother, Thomas Martha Cox, both of Gallipolis and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her three sisters, Hilda Rutt, Judy, Cox, Patricia A. Winston and three brothers, Lawrence ' Sam' Cox, William Lee Cox and Hiram 'Junior' Cox. Special thanks to Holzer Hospice Care, Abbott Home Health, and for the thoughts and prayers of many who loved her. Services will be 2 p.m., Friday, March 19, 2010 at the Willis Funeral Home with the Rev. Alfred Holley officiating. Entombment will follow at Ohio Valley Memory Gardens, Chapel of Hope Mausoleum. Friends may call at the funeral home 6-8 p.m., Thursday, March 18, 2010. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Willis Funeral Home in care of Janet Ferguson.
