Jerry A. Myers, 84, of Gallipolis, Ohio went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, February 20, 2024.
Born on April 9, 1939 in Mercerville, Ohio, Jerry was the son of the late Clarence C. and Grace E. Houck Myers. Jerry loved sports. He played football and basketball for the Mercerville Wildcats. In 1956, Jerry placed 2nd in the state in pole vaulting. Jerry was a graduate of Mercerville High School Class of 1957 and a member of Morning Dawn Masonic Lodge #7. He retired from OVEC Kyger Creek and attended First Baptist Church in Gallipolis. Jerry loved to hunt and has a large buck in the Ohio record books. He enjoyed golfing, watching the Buckeyes, fishing, and woodworking.
Jerry married his lifelong love, Margaret Montgomery Myers on December 22, 1957. Together, they built their home in Gallipolis and enjoyed 67 years together. Jerry will be remembered as a kind and gentle man.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Margaret Myers of Gallipolis; children, John (Mary Beth) Myers of Hurricane, West Virginia, Donna (Jim) Kessel of Morgantown, West Virginia, and Ron (Patti) Myers of Kailua, Hawaii; grandchildren, Whitney (Brian) Hayes, Elizabeth (Scott) Stutler, Kris (Jessica) Myers, Jodi (Kyle) Davis, Logan Myers, and Grace Myers; ten great grandchildren; and special extended family, Brenda Myers and Halee Myers Grymes of Gallipolis.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his brother, Ray Myers and sister, Carolyn Fenice.
The funeral service for Jerry will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Aaron Young officiating. Burial will follow in Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. Friends and family may call prior to the service Saturday from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
