Jerry Lee Rusk

Jerry Lee Rusk, 77, of Bidwell, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at his residence.

Born on July 29, 1946 in Gallipolis, Ohio, Jerry was the son of the late H. Wilson and Maxine L. Davis Rusk.  Jerry married Carole Banks Rusk, who survives him in Bidwell.  Jerry earned a Bachelor of Science from Rio Grande College.  Teaching at both Kyger Creek High School and River Valley High School, Jerry was an educator in the Gallia County Local School District.  He was a US Army veteran, serving in Germany during the Vietnam War.  Jerry was a member of American Legion Post #27, Gallia County Gun Club, Gallia County Conservation Club, NRA, and Gallia County Retired Teachers.  He enjoyed fishing and was a former Bass Busters member.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Carole Rusk of Bidwell, with whom he shared a blended family:  son, Kelly Rusk of Bidwell and grandchildren, Ashley Rusk, Derrick Rusk, Justin Rusk, and Maci Rusk; daughter, Erica (Ryan) Walters of Gallipolis and grandchildren, Rebecca and Warren Sydenstricker and Rilynn and Colton Walters; son, Charles Garnes (Angie Allen) of Jackson, Ohio and grandsons, Prince Garnes and Drake Garnes; and daughter, Crystal Garnes Woodie (James Woodie) of Gallipolis and grandchildren, Sully Woodie, Morgan Woodie, and Judah Woodie.  Also surviving are Jerry's brother, Gary W. Rusk (Ruth Ann Rusk) of Lewis Center, Ohio and niece, Kelley Edwards and nephew, Kevin Swabb (Laura) and children, Kaylyn Swabb, Kory Swabb, and Louise Ferner (Rob) and Jerry's sister, Bev Alberchinski (Alan Alberchinski) of Gallipolis and nephew, Adam Alberchinski (Allison).

The funeral service for Jerry will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Marc Sarrett officiating.  His burial will follow in Mound Hill Cemetery with a military service provided by the Gallia County Funeral Detail.  Friends and family may call on Monday, July 22, 2024 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
