Jim Rose, 65 years old, passed away on March 4th at his residence after his 5.5 year battle with cancer. Jimmie leaves behind his wife Tande Pope Rose, son Brandon Montgomery and daughter-in-law Erin, four grandchildren Ellie, Sadie, Maggie, and Hank Montgomery, Brother Steve (Sheri) Rose, Aunt Daisy Smoot, Sisters-in-law Cynde Kuhn and Amy (Stoney) Johnson, Brother-in-law Chad (Deanna) Pope. Nieces and nephews: Jennifer (Chris) Voltz and Bethany Rose, Jody (Danny) Morgan, Jordan Johnson, Erin Pope, Beau Johnson, and Evan Pope. Great nieces and nephews: Jorja and Boone Morgan, and Thatcher and Delphine Voltz. Jim is also survived by his dearest friend, Allan Boster, who was like a brother to him, as well as his beloved pets, Frederick and Maggie Moo.
Jim was born April 3, 1959 in Gallipolis, Ohio, as the son of the late Merrill and Thelma Saunders Rose. He was preceded in death by his sister Sheri Rose, paternal grandparents Charlie and Weltha Rose, maternal grandparents Robert and Goldie Saunders, Aunt Marjorie Mink, Uncle Bobby Saunders, as well as his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Don and Leota Pope, and his brother-in-law Alan Kuhn.
Jim was a devoted farmer and caretaker of the land. His passion for agriculture was carried through by working for Gallia Soil & Water and NRCS. Those close to Jimmie know that he was a reserved man of few words, but always highly respected by those around him for his wisdom and work ethic. In the last 8 years of Jimmie’s life, he was blessed by a special love for his grandchildren, who became the center of his world. It was also during this time that Jimmie was chosen to take on a tough battle with cancer with the Lord by his side, along with his loving wife and family. While saddened by this loss, we are blessed to say that Jimmie is no longer suffering. In true Jimmie fashion, he put up a great fight, blessed others during this process, and received many blessings from those who loved him.
A private service will be conducted at the convenience of the family. Jimmie was passionate about contributing to his grandchildren's future and others' lives. He was excited about the positive changes happening for the youth of Gallia County regarding the construction at the Gallia County Fairgrounds, and at his request, we ask that you consider making a monetary donation to the Gallia County Agricultural Society, PO Box 931 Gallipolis OH 45631, in honor of Jim Rose.
