Jo Biars

Jo Merrick Biars, 59, of Gallipolis, Ohio passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Jo was born on August 14, 1963 in Columbus, Ohio, daughter of the late William "Bill" and Mildred Ann Dulaney Merrick. Jo was a 1981 graduate of Gallia Academy High School and had been employed at Holzer Medical Center as a medical transcriptionist. Jo attended Macedonia Community Church and enjoyed watching her favorite rider in Motocross #601.

She was married to Melvin Biars for 42 years; and he survives along with a son, Dustin Biars both of Gallipolis. Also surviving are one brother, Jim (Rhonda) Merrick and one sister, Cheryal (Max) Crow; one sister-in-law, Mariann Merrick; several nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and great nephews. In addition to her parents, Jo was preceded in death by a brother, Mike Merrick.

The funeral service for Jo will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at Willis Funeral Home with Pastor George Holley officiating. Her burial will follow in Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. Friends may call on Monday, May 15, 2023 at Willis Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
