Jo Ann Thompson

Jo Ann Thompson, 82 of Gallipolis, passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2009 at the Ohio State University Medical Center. She was born June 16, 1926, in Jackson, Ohio daughter of the late Ceylon Landrum and Martha Elizabeth McKinniss Hiland. On July 25, 1947 she was married to Clarence E. Thompson who preceded her in death on April 14, 1986. JoAnn was a retired teacher from the Gallipolis City Schools. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, the Gallipolis Emblem Club, and the Red Hat Society. Surviving are two children, Susan Arnold and her husband Arthur of Fleming, Ohio and Michael E. Thompson and his wife Sandy of Chillicothe, Ohio; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Ann Landrum of Hillsboro, Ohio as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clarence E. Thompson, a brother Dwight Landrum and a sister Marilyn Browder. Graveside services will be on Monday, June 8, 2009 at 11:00 am in the Pine Street Cemetery with Bob Powell officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 until 6:00 pm on Sunday, June 7, 2009 at the Willis Funeral Home.
