John "Jeff" Fulkerson, 71, of Gallipolis, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on May 6, 2022 at Grant Medical Center surrounded by his children, after a long battle with failing health. Jeff was born on December 29, 1950 in Gallia County, Ohio, son of the late Joe Fulkerson and Frances Mink Green. In addition to his parents, Jeff was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Fulkerson and his maternal grandparents, Earl and Meda Mink, in whose home he grew up. Jeff was a semi-trailer driver for 45 years, having been the recipient of the USF Holland Two Million Mile Safety Award. He was a member of the Teamster Union, Centerville Masonic Lodge #371, and a 1968 graduate of Kyger Creek High School. Jeff was a strong believer in the Christian faith and enjoyed watching westerns and comedies. He was an avid Ohio State and NASCAR fan, particularly of Dale Earnhardt. Jeff could always give an accurate estimate of how many miles and how much time was left before reaching a destination, thanks to his long career as a truck driver. In fact, it became a family game while traveling to call Jeff to see if he could remember how many miles it was from a particular location to the destination; he was rarely wrong. Jeff is survived by his son, Gerald "Fuzzy" (Tamar) Fulkerson of Oak Hill, Ohio; daughter, Stephanie Fulkerson (Brock Casner) of Johnstown, Ohio; grandchildren, Tristan, Trent, Trevor, and Trinity Fulkerson; brothers, Larry (Catherine) Green and Randy Green both of Dayton, Ohio; special friends, Mary Williams Hicks and Laura Baker; and other extended family members. A Masonic Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at Willis Funeral Home with the Centerville Masonic Lodge presiding. His burial will follow in Centenary Cemetery. Friends may call at Willis Funeral Home on Wednesday from noon until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Willis Funeral Home to help with expenses.
