John Paul Holley, 59, of Rodney, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 in Rodney. He was born June 16, 1949 in Gallia County, son of Vernon and Ruby Beck Holley, who survive him. John Paul was a graduate of Gallia Academy High School and was a local businessman with an emphasis in the construction industry and a humanitarian. John Paul was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Hanna Lea Holley. Also passing in this tragedy was his longtime companion, Carolyn Merry. Surviving are two sons, John Paul Tami Holt Holley II and Eddie Christie Holley, both of Bidwell; a daughter, Melissa Roy Arnett of Columbus; his parents, Vernon and Ruby Holley of Gallipolis; four grandchildren, Thomas Holley, Anna Holley, Whitney Holley and Lane Christopher Arnett; one sister, Pauline Clyde Elliott of Lecta; three brothers, the Rev. Alfred Phyllis Holley of Gallipolis, Eugene Patty Holley of Bidwell and David Arlene Holley of Gallipolis; several nieces and nephews. Services will be 11 a.m., Monday, May 4, 2009 at the First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Mound Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at Lyne Center, University of Rio Grande on Sunday, May 3, 2009 from 2-7 p.m. Arrangements are by the Willis Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Dean Rees, Scott Woodward, Chris Hively, Steve Bryant, Jeff Merry and Dave Evans. Honorary Pallbearer will be Mike Elliott.
