John Emil Moore

John Emil Moore, 90, of Gallipolis, Ohio passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 5, 2022. He was born on September 6, 1932 in Garrett, Floyd County, Kentucky to the late Albert and Rosha Moore. John was married to the love of his life, Barbara (Pack) Moore, for nearly 66 years.

John was a selfless and kind man who dedicated his life to his family. He served in the Army and graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Kentucky in 1960 with help from the GI Bill. He retired from American Electric Power in 1996 where he was Assistant Plant Manager at AEP’s Gavin Plant.  His coworkers knew him as a knowledgeable and demanding but fair leader.  After retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and playing golf with his family and friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents, five siblings, and his daughter Claudia L.Yoho. He is survived by his wife Barbara, his siblings Muriel, Grace, and Lloyd, his son John D. Moore, a son-in-law, two grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

The funeral service for John will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, October 14, 2022 at Grace United Methodist Church with Pastor Raymond Kane officiating.  Burial will then occur at Centenary Cemetery, followed by a luncheon at the church.  Friends may call at the church prior to the service Friday from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.  Military honors will be given at the cemetery by the Gallia County Funeral Detail.
